Individual Counseling

Hi, my name is James Edwards-Kenion. I am currently completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Dayton. My counseling is based on a person-centered, strengths-based approach, and I enjoy existential therapy. I have experience with a wide range of diagnoses across the lifespan, including young children and individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. I help clients navigate past and current traumas and engage with them from a humanistic perspective, regardless of the diagnosis or trauma history. I am most passionate about providing services for children, women (specifically moms), individuals with developmental disabilities, and BIPOC populations, but my experience is diverse with a wide range of diagnoses and ages.

I hold a Bachelors (2014) and Masters (2016) of the Arts in Bassoon Performance from Wright State University’s School of Music and have been playing the piano since the age of five, which led to becoming a Certified Music Practitioner through the Music for Healing & Transition Program (MHTP), serving individuals at their bedside through my Independent Practicum at Raj Soin Medical Center. I utilize Live Therapeutic Music for grounding and reflection in counseling sessions and contribute to the studies of utilizing Live Therapeutic Music in the

behavioral health setting.

All appointments are currently held via secure virtual platform.

Sydney Kiger, MA, LCMHCA, NCC

Get To Know Mrs. Kiger

While I work with a diverse population of clients, I'm most passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals. I feel strongly about delivering neurodiversity affirming care to both adults and children who are affected by the difficulties of living in a world built for those who are "typical." Whether it is a specific instance or a lifelong series of being misunderstood, I see that those with ASD, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, bipolar, borderline, etc., carry trauma that I work through alongside them. Additional areas of therapy that have my heart are familial and interpersonal relationship issues. Working with children brings me joy! I believe it is important to see a family as a whole when working through a child's challenges and understand how this translates into the lives of adults who grew up in unhappy homes.
